How To Fix Kodi “Failed To Install Dependency” Error On Fire Stick And Fire TV

If you install enough new Kodi addons on your Fire Stick or Fire TV, you will likely run across a “Failed To Install Dependency” error message at some point. Pretty much all Kodi users will encounter this problem eventually, it’s one of the most common (and annoying) error messages we deal with here at Firestick.io. This error occurs when Kodi cannot find the necessary “dependent files” of the addon you are attempting to install.

Luckily, it’s a pretty simple fix if you follow one of the methods below. There are two ways of going about it: Clearing the Kodi cache, and clearing all Kodi data. The first method is a bit easier and preserves your installed addons, but if that does not work, you can try the second.

#1: How To Clear Kodi Cache

From the Fire TV Main Screen:

  1. Click Settings
  2. Go to Applications
  3. Click Manage Installed Applications
  4. Click Kodi
  5. Click Clear Cache
  6. Now you can go back and attempt to reinstall the addon

If the above method does not work, you can try the one below. Clearing the data usually does the trick if clearing the cache does not, but keep in mind that this will completely wipe your Kodi setup and you will lose all of your installed addons and builds. If you don’t mind re-installing everything, it’s pretty effective.

#2: How To Clear All Kodi Data

From the Fire TV Main Screen:

  1. Click Settings
  2. Go To Applications
  3. Click Manage Installed Applications
  4. Click Kodi
  5. Click Clear Data
  6. Kodi will now be completely wiped, like it was when you first downloaded it. Alternately you can get the same results by uninstalling/reinstalling Kodi.

Hopefully, this helps resolve your Kodi dependency issue. Happy streaming!
